Manis Selected to the NSCAA Women's Soccer Scholar All-America Team

Dec. 31, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF women's soccer goalkeeper Jennifer Manis (Pensacola, Fla.) was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with a spot on the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America Second Team. The senior keeper became the fifth different Knight in program history to be selected to the postseason academic team.

Manis, who accumulated a 3.77 grade-point average en route to the NSCAA/adidas academic squad, had already racked up numerous awards for her accomplishments on and off the field in 2007. In September, she was one of just 20 candidates for the national Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, "the nation's premier award for NCAA senior student-athletes." Manis then was a member of the Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament Team, and she went on to be the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for shutting out both Tulsa and SMU on the road.

Towards the end of the season, Manis was voted onto the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Third Team, while also nabbing C-USA Defensive Player of the Year accolades and her second-straight C-USA All-Academic Team award.

UCF's starter in every match this year, Manis finished with 10 shutouts in leading her team to a share of the C-USA regular-season title and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With a 15-4-4 record, the Knights witnessed their keeper post a 0.87 goals-against average and 126 saves, which rank second in school history.
