ORLANDO,Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF junior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) was honored for his stellar play on the court when he was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday. Taylor, who has led the Knights in scoring in nine-straight contests, averaged 25.2 points in a pair of games for the Knights.
Against Connecticut, he scored a career-high 30 points, including an 8-of-9 peformance at the free-throw line, and added two assists and a steal. On the week, Taylor shot 50 percent from the floor and 56 percent from 3-point range (9-of-16).
In the Knights' win over the New Jersey Institute of Technology, he scored a game-high 21 points in just 18 minutes on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. He went 5-of-6 from deep against the Highlanders.
Taylor, who won the player of the week award for the first time in his career, shares the honor with Lawrence Ghoram of Rice.
The Knights conclude the UCF Holiday Classic today, hosting Long Island at 3:30 p.m. at the new UCF Arena.
