ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's basketball fans can now spend time with the Knights during the holiday season as the UCF Athletics Association is offering a special three-game ticket package. The package includes tickets to three UCF contests at the new UCF Arena, highlighted by a visit from traditional power Connecticut on Dec. 28.
For $25, fans will receive tickets to the Connecticut contest and for the Knights' games at the UCF Holiday Classic (Dec. 30-31). UCF opens the event on Dec. 30 versus New Jersey Tech and will face Long Island or Texas-Pan Am the following day.
Fans should call 407-UCF-1000 to purchase the ticket package.
The holiday package provides fans with a $10 discount as tickets to these three contests usually cost $35.
Connecticut, led by Hall of Fame head coach Jim Calhoun, is 7-2 this season. The Huskies have won a pair of national championships under Calhoun, most recently in 2004.
UCF will be meeting Connecticut for the second time overall and for the first occasion in Orlando. The squads played in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament in Worcester, Mass.
Tip-off for the game with the Huskies is set for 8 p.m.
The UCF Holiday Classic is in its fourth year. Last December, the Knights claimed the event with an 88-62 victory over Texas-Pan Am.
On Dec. 30, UCF and New Jersey Tech will play at 3:30 p.m. The following day, the consolation game is slated for 1 p.m., followed by the championship at 3:30 p.m.
The Knights are 4-1 at the state-of-the-art new UCF Arena this year.
