Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following a 73-52 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday, the UCF women's basketball team travels to Coral Gables, Fla., Sunday for a match-up with Miami. The contest is slated for Noon.
UCF (4-3) enters the contest with a two-game winning streak, defeating both the Wildcats and La Salle in its last two victories.
Tia Lewis (Poulan, Ga.) and Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) are both averaging double-doubles to pace the Knights this season. Lewis is averaging 15 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, while Cannon averages 13.1 points and 10 rebounds per outing.
Another pair of Knights is also nearing double-digit averages in points. Marshay White (Rochester, N.Y.) and D'Nay Daniels (Atlanta, Ga.) are posting 9.3 points and 9.0 points per game, respectively. White is currently leading the team with 14 steals this season, while also dishing out 19 assists.
Miami (3-3) is led by Maurita Reid's 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. The senior also paces her team with 20 steals on the season.
The Hurricanes lost only two starters from last year's 11-19 squad, while welcoming six newcomers to the roster for the 2007-08 season.
Miami holds a 9-3 advantage over the Black and Gold, which includes winning seven of its last eight meetings with the Knights.
