CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (www.ucfathletics.com) - In one of the biggest regattas of the fall season, the UCF women's rowing team continued to demonstrate why it is one of the top teams in the country with some impressive showings at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday-Sunday. The Knights medaled in all three of the premier events, marking the first time in program history they accomplished the feat.

"It was great to have three boats medal in the premiere eights races," said head coach Leeanne Crain. "We have a lot of work to do between now and the start of the spring season, but we're off to a good start."

UCF's lightweight eight boat dominated its respective event, posting a time of 19:01 to claim first place for the gold medal. Virginia Tech was 57 seconds behind the Knights to finish in second.

In the championship eight, the UCF varsity eight "A" boat brought home a second-place performance with a time of 17:24, just nine second behind Tennessee. The Black and Gold's "B" boat also posted a top-10 showing, earning sixth place, while the "C" squad placed 21st. The championship eight race featured a total of 30 boats.

Over in the freshmen/novice eight race, UCF took second with a time of 19:29.3, while Texas "A" secured first at 19:23. Two student-athletes represented the Knights in the women's double event, as Krystina Sarff and Caitlin Pauls delivered a fourth-place finish out of 27 entries.

UCF will have a few months off before they get back in the water for its next competition. The Knights will make the short trip to Winter Park for the Metro Cup March 1.
