ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF football senior defensive tackle Keith Shologan was voted onto the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. The Edmonton, Alberta, native became the first UCF player in program history to be named to the first team.
A finance major, Shologan holds a 3.52 grade-point average at UCF. He has never missed a game in his four campaigns with the Black and Gold, and has started all but three games in his career. Shologan racked up 30 tackles as a freshman, 29 during his sophomore season and 40 a year ago. In 2007, he has recorded 24 takedowns with four tackles for a loss, two and a half sacks, six quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery.
Shologan's best performance of the year was a seven-tackle effort in the Bright House Networks Stadium opener vs. Texas Sept. 15. He also notched 1.5 sacks in a win over Marshall Nov. 3.
