C-USA Championship Week Declared at UCF

Orlando, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - With all the excitement brewing for this Saturday's Conference USA Championship match-up between the hometown UCF Knights (9-3, 7-1), winners of the East Division, hosting the West Division's Tulsa Golden Hurricane (9-3, 6-2) in a noon showdown at Bright House Networks Stadium...our local governments have declared it "C-USA Championship Week".

The UCF Athletics Association is receiving a lot of help from its friends and partners to show support for Head Coach George O'Leary and his 2007 Knights as they host the University of Tulsa in the third annual Conference USA Championship this weekend. To the victors go the C-USA Championship and a certain berth in the prestigious AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. an SEC opponent on December 29.

Joining the list of those showing their support for UCF this week are Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty and City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, who have each declared this week "Conference USA Championship Week," and joining University of Central Florida President John C. Hitt in declaring this Friday, Nov. 30 "Black and Gold Day".

Great seats to this Saturday's Conference USA Football Championship showdown vs. Tulsa can still be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling (407) 839-3900 or by going online at UCFAthletics.com. The UCFAA Ticket Office located at Bright House Networks Stadium has also extended their operating hours this week open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. through Friday and opening up at 8 a.m. day of the game on Saturday.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27

UCF Football Championship Week Press Conference
12-1 p.m.; Bright House Networks Stadium Recruiting Club Room
Media will be able to participate in Conference USA's national teleconference with head coaches George O'Leary (UCF) and Todd Graham (Tulsa) from 12-12:30 p.m. Following, UCF players Leger Douzable and Patrick Brown and Coach O'Leary will be available to attending media. Also available to the media will be special guest C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky. *Special announcements will be made at this press event on behalf of both Orange County and the City of Orlando. Each local government has issued a Proclamation declaring this week "Conference USA Championship Week" in addition to issuing a friendly challenge to Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor (further information forthcoming).

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28

SGA Pep Rally for the Football Team
12 p.m.; UCF Student Union Atrium

The SGA will host a pep rally to show support for the football team featuring the captains of this year's squad, along with performances from the cheerleader and members of the Marching Knights

Applebee's UCF Fan Rally Day
3-7 p.m.; Applebee's on University Boulevard (near the UCF Campus)
Come out to the local Applebee's with other UCF fans and enjoy an evening with 740 AM's Jerry O'Neill and the Shot Doctor, as they do their show live. Wear UCF gear and receive a discount on your food purchase. Also, while at the show you can win tickets to this week's big game!

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29

George O'Leary Call-In Show
6-7 p.m.; Buffalo Wild Wings

Along with host Marc Daniels, Head Coach George O'Leary talks about the game on 740 AM The Team.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30

Show your support, it's Black and Gold Day in Orlando!
All Day; UCF campuses, Orange County and the City of Orlando
It's the day before the big game and University of Central Florida President John C. Hitt, Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty and City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer have declared Friday Black and Gold Day. All UCF alumni, fans and supporters are encouraged to show your support for the Knights as they make their stand for the C-USA title.

Lunch with George
12 p.m.; Recruiting Club Room at Bright House Networks Stadium
Presented by Tropical Ford, Lunch with George is the fans best one-on-one chance to talk with the head football coach in addition to joining several UCF fans for lunch. This is a definite can't miss!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1

UCF Alumni Association Pre-Game Party
9-11 a.m.; FAIRWINDS Alumni Center
Tickets are $10 each for UCF Alumni Association members and GKC donors. Members and donors will be permitted one (1) guest at the $10 rate. Tickets are $45 for all additional non-members.

KnightWalk
Approximately 9:45 a.m.; IOA Plaza
The team will be dropped at the corner of East Plaza and Victory and will walk to the stadium led by the National Champion UCF cheerleaders and Marching Knights. We encourage fans to line up the entire length of the Knightwalk.

Tailgating on Campus
There is nothing like a day tailgating on the UCF campus, strolling through the Memory Mall or in Knights Plaza. Come on out and enjoy a safe day of football and fun.

2007 Conference USA Championship Game
12 p.m.; UCF vs. Tulsa at Bright House Networks Stadium
The Knights defeated Tulsa earlier this season, 44-23, in Orlando on Oct. 20. However, Tulsa overcame the Knights in the inaugural C-USA title game, 44-27, at the Florida Citrus Bowl. UCF is led by All-America candidate running back Kevin Smith, who impressively leads the nation in both rushing and scoring. He will go up against Tulsa quarterback Paul Smith, who's electrifying numbers have been blazing defenses all year. Don't forget to wear "Gold" to the game.
