Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Knights past Jacksonville, 80-72, Monday night at the new UCF Arena. The win was the first for the Black and Gold in the new 10,000-seat arena and their second-straight win on the season.

With the victory, UCF improved its record to 2-2 overall, while Jacksonville falls to 3-1 after suffering its first loss of the season at the hands of the Knights.

By the time the final buzzer sounded, UCF put up 48 second-half points and shot 52.9% in the final period.

For the game, UCF shot 50.8% from the floor and out-rebounded Jacksonville 55-30. The Black and Gold recorded more rebounds than its opponent for the third-straight game. Of its 80 total points, the Knights scored 44 in the paint, with 28 coming in the second half.

Besides Cannon, the Knights had three additional players register double-digits in points, with Tia Lewis (Poulan, Ga.) scoring 16 and Chelsie Wiley (Riviera Beach, Fla.) chipping in with 10. D'Nay Daniels' (Atlanta, Ga.) 10 points contributed to the Knights' 18 bench points for the game.

The Knights shot 48.3% from the floor in the first half, despite trailing 37-32 going into the locker room. Cannon and Wiley led the Black and Gold in the opening period with eight points apiece, while Lewis grabbed six boards.

UCF opened the second period with an 8-3 run, with Cannon scoring six, to tie the game at 40. A layup by Wiley with 14:28 remaining in the game gave the Knights their first lead since the middle of the opening period. The Black and Gold would maintain its lead for the duration of the contest, holding as much as a 10-point advantage over the Dolphins toward the end of the half.
