UCF Women's Basketball to Host Jacksonville on Monday

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following a big, 57-47, win Thursday at North Florida, the UCF women's basketball team returns home to host Jacksonville at the new UCF Arena Monday at 7 p.m.

UCF and Jacksonville will meet for the 14th time since their first meeting in the 1999-00 season, with the Knights holding a 7-6 advantage over the Dolphins. In the teams' last meeting, Jacksonville defeated the Knights 61-50 at Swisher Gymnasium behind a 21-point effort from Ashley Williams. She also led the Dolphins with six rebounds in the game. For UCF, Kristin Thomas posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds despite the Knights loss on the road.

The Knights' last win over Jacksonville was a 79-58 decision on March 4, 2004 at the old UCF Arena.

In UCF's last outing, Tia Lewis (Poulan, Ga.) posted career-highs with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) registered 10 points for the third-straight game and had a career-high 15 rebounds, to lead the Knights past North Florida.

Lewis leads the Knights with 33 boards and ranks second in C-USA with 11.0 rebounds per game, while Cannon is close behind with 32 boards and the third spot on the conference register with 10.7 rebounds per game.

Both players are also averaging a double-double for the season. In addition to her 11.0 rebounds, Lewis is averaging 14.7 points, and Cannon is averaging 10 points per game in addition to her 10.7 boards.

The Dolphins enter Monday's contest with an undefeated, 3-0, record on the young season, posting wins over Georgia Southern, Miami (Fla.) and most recently, Bethune-Cookman. Jacksonville features four newcomers and eight returners from 2006-07's sixth-best tournaround team in the country, improving 11 games from the previous season.

In Jacksonville's, 76-45, win over Bethune-Cookman, the Dolphins had four players post double-digits in points, with Ashley Williams registering a season-high 21 points. JU also got 15 points from Danielle Gray, along with 13 points from Regina Omite and Virginia Gregoire.
