Serna Registers 16 Kills in Loss at Southern Miss

Hattiesburg, Miss. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) it .500 and recorded a match-high 16 kills, despite the UCF volleyball team falling to Conference USA foe Southern Miss, 3-0 (25-30, 20-30, 20-30), at the Reed Green Coliseum Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Knights conclude their regular-season schedule with a 9-22 record and with a winless record in C-USA matches (0-16). Southern Miss moved to 3-13 in the league and 13-30 on the year with the win.

UCF hit .133 in the match, while Southern Miss hit .267.

Freshman Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) had 34 assists and two service aces against the Golden Eagles

Defensively, Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Black and Gold with 13 digs, while senior Cassie Ramaekers (Blue Grass, Iowa) added nine digs.

The Golden Eagles had two players record double-digits in kills against the Knights, with Amanda Huntoon and Angela Hlavaty registering 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

The Knights must now prepare for the C-USA Volleyball Championship hosted by Marshall on Sept. 15-18. Game time for UCF's first match is yet to be determined.
