Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball will square-off with both East Carolina and Marshall for the second time this season when they hit the road Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 in Conference USA action. The Knights will travel to the Minges Coliseum in Greenville, N.C. Friday to face the Pirates, before playing the league-leading Thundering Herd Sunday at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W. Va. Friday's contest is scheduled for 7 p.m., with Sunday's match slated for 1 p.m.
In the Knights', 3-0, loss to East Carolina earlier this season, sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) led UCF with nine kills, while junior Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) added six. Freshman libero Kristen Petrasic (Carrollton, Texas) registered a match-high 12 digs in the match.
In UCF's first meeting with Marshall, a 3-0 (28-30, 23-30, 17-30) defeat, Campbell recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs and Serna added nine kills. Freshman Kelly Weaver (Port Orange, Fla.) had seven kills and two block assists, while sophomore setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) registered 29 assists, seven digs and three kills in the match.
Campbell has totaled 287 kills on the year and is averaging 3.02 per game, which is tops for the Knights this season. Junior Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) leads the UCF defense with 110 total blocks and a 1.12 blocks per game average, a mark that ranks fifth in C-USA.
East Carolina is currently 13-14 on the season and sits in ninth place in the league with a 4-8 conference record. Kelley Wernert has paced the Pirates this season, tallying 525 kills in 2007 and averaging 5.00 kills per game.
Marshall holds the top spot in C-USA standings with an almost perfect 11-1 league mark and an 18-8 overall record. Kelly-Anne Billingy ranks second in the league with 5.08 kills per game and sixth in hitting efficiency, with a .333 clip. The outside hitter was also named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for her stellar play last weekend in wins over Houston and Rice.
