Birmingham, Ala. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team fell to UAB, 3-0 (16-30, 29-31, 18-30), in Conference USA action Friday night at the Bartow Arena, despite getting a seven kill, seven dig performance from junior Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas). The outside hitter recorded four of her seven kills in the first game of the match, adding two additional kills in the third game.

The Knights drop to 8-11 on the season and 0-5 in the C-USA with the loss. The win improved the Blazers' record to 12-6 on the season and 3-2 in league matches.

Sophomore Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) had another solid outing for UCF with 16 assists, six digs, four kills and three service aces, while also hitting a team-high .250. Fellow sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Knights with 11 digs and junior Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) paced the Black and Gold defense with three blocks assists.

After dropping the first game 16-30, UCF came close to clinching game two after going down 15-19. The Knights rattled off five-straight points behind three service aces from Youngblood and two block assists from both Heppert and Serna to go up 21-19. UAB answered back with five-straight points of its own, to go up 24-21 before a kill and a service ace from Kelly Weaver (Port Orange, Fla.), along with two kills by Kerry Brown (St. Charles North, Ill.), put UCF within two points of the win, 28-27. But a pair of Knights errors and two kills by the Blazers gave the home team the 31-29 win.

The Black and Gold went up 4-1 to start the third game of the match, but the Blazers went on a 29-14 run to take the game and the match from the Knights.

UAB's Lilly Domingos hit .875 with seven kills in the third game, helping the Blazers hit .500 as a team in the final contest. Ivana Bozic added her 11th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs.

The Knights are back on the road Sunday when they travel to Memphis for their sixth-straight league match. The contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
