Oct. 5, 2007

Bradenton, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team travels out to Bradenton for a three-day tournament at the IMG Treibly beginning Friday. Some of the best squads in the country will be at the event, including Florida, Illinois, Miami and North Carolina. The tournament takes place at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy at IMG Academies.

There will be groups of six players, except for Group H, which will have seven teams in the singles portion. The format is set as a round robin with each match consisting of a 10-game pro set with no-ad scoring.

No two UCF players are in the same singles group. Freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) is in Group A; senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) plays in Group B; freshman Gabriel Mattos (Ocoee, Fla./West Orange) is in Group C; junior Jimmy Roesch (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) plays in Group G and junior Danny Colon (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) rounds it off for the Knights playing in Group H.

The doubles format will have four teams of players in groups `A' through `D' and five teams in Group E. Each doubles pair plays two matches. The matches will consist of an eight-game pro set with no-ad scoring like the singles format. Winners from round one will face off in the second round, while the losers play each other in the second round of the round robin format.

Sudas and Mattos will team together in Group A. The only other UCF duo playing together in doubles is Romano and Roesch, who are in Group D.

The tournament resumes Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the second round of doubles action.
