UCF Volleyball Travels to UAB and Memphis

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team is back on the road this weekend when it travels to UAB on Friday and Memphis on Sunday for a pair of Conference USA matches. The Knights' (8-10, 0-4 C-USA) contest against the Blazers is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala., while Sunday's match in Memphis, Tenn. is slated for 1 p.m. versus the Tigers.

The Knights are playing league matches away from home for only the second time this season. Their first road trip ended in a 3-0 loss to Rice on Sept. 23 in Houston.

Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.), Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo.) and Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) all lead the Black and Gold with 177 kills apiece, with Neiderworder and Serna averaging 3.0 kills per game, while Campbell is right behind with 2.81 kills per game. With the addition of Jenny Heppert's (Lawrence, Kan.) 144 kills, the foursome have totaled 675 of the Knights 873 total kills in 2007.

Heppert and freshman Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) are UCF's representatives on the league's leader board, with Heppert ranking third in the conference with 1.2 blocks per game (79 blocks/66 games) and 10th with 0.44 service aces per game (29 aces/66 games), while Brueggemeyer ranks 10th in the C-USA standings with 9.59 assists per game (489 assists/51 games).

UAB (11-6, 2-2 C-USA) currently sits at fifth in the league standings behind the stellar play of junior Ivana Bozic, who has totaled 225 kills on the season, good for fourth on the C-USA leader board. Bozic is also second in service aces, fourth in points and seventh in digs. She is joined by fellow teammates Nevena Stefanov, Casey Dent, Brianna Galvin, Fernanda Domingos and Lilly Domingos in the conference's top 10.

Memphis (13-7, 2-2 C-USA) is led by senior Shelby Burton who ranked eighth nationally in 2006 with a .448 hitting percentage and also ranks in the top ten this season in four different categories on the league's leader board. She ranks first in the conference with 1.44 blocks per game (102.0 blocks/71 games) and second with a .412 hitting percentage (273 kills, 510 attempts). Burton also ranks seventh in points and ninth in kills.
