UCF Fastbreak - Oct. 31

Oct. 31, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - A pair of Knights are sporting new looks this season. Sophomore forwards Tony Davis (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) and Andre Thornton (Memphis, Tenn./Mitchell) have both switched jersey numbers this year.

Davis wore No. 20 in 2006-07. With forward Lavell Payne exhausting his eligibility, Davis is now wearing No. 2. Payne wore No. 2 from 2005-07.

Thornton took advantage of UCF's logo change to switch numbers. Because the Knights' need new uniforms this season, UCF players were given the option of selecting a new number. Thornton wore No. 22 last year, but was happy to change to No. 14.

"Fourteen has been with me forever. My father and brother wore it when they played, he said. "I wore it in high school and middle school. Fourteen is a part of me. It feels good to wear it again."

Before Thornton, forward Marcus Johnson donned No. 22 from 2004-06.

The Knights will open the regular season at the new UCF arena on Nov. 11, hosting Nevada. The squad will play 16 regular-season contests at home this year.

UCF has a pair of exhibition games at home before starting the regular season: Nov. 3 versus St. Leo and Nov. 6 against Florida Southern.Admission to both exhibition games is free.

Season tickets are currently available by calling 407-UCF-1000.
