Forest Leads UCF to Third-Place Finish

GREENSBORO, N.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Thanks to a third-place showing by junior Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County), the UCF men's golf team finished third on Tuesday at the 15-team UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Championship at the Forest Oaks Country Club. UCF posted a 279 (-9) on the final day of the three-round tournament as three Knights finished in the top 20.

The Knights concluded play at 866 (+2), six strokes behind first-place Louisville. Mississippi State (863, -1) finished in second.

Forest recorded a six-under 66 on Tuesday to finish at 212 (-4). He began the day tied for 16th. After the opening two rounds on Monday, the Knights, who are currently ranked 23rd nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, were tied for sixth as a team.

"We played well today and I was very happy for the players," said UCF head coach Nick Clinard. "We still have room for improvement so we need to have a productive offseason to get ready for the spring. I was happy for Greg today and he played like I expect him to play. He is a talented kid and can be as good as he wants to be."

UCF freshman Jhared Hack (Sanford, Fla./Circle Christian) entered the final round tied for 29th, but carded a four-under 68 to tie for 11th at 216 (E). Junior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne) recorded an even-par 72 to tie for 18th (218, +2).

On Tuesday, sophomore Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) tallied a one-over 73. He tied for 43rd (224, +8). Senior Chris Anderson tied for 57th at 227 (+11). He recorded a seven-over 79 in the final round.

The tournament served as the Knights' final event of the fall. UCF will return to action on Feb. 17 at the John Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
