GREENSBORO, N.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After two rounds of play at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Championship, the UCF men's golf team is tied for sixth in the team standings. Two Knights are listed in the top-20 at the 15-team event at the Forest Oaks Country Club.
The Knights (587, +11) are seven strokes behind first-place North Carolina. UCF carded a 294 (+6) in the opening round and concluded the day with a 293 (+5). Kent State and Louisville are tied for second at 581 (+5).
UCF juniors Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne) are tied for 16th (146, +2). Forest posted a 74 (+2) to start the day and recovered to card an even-par 72. Johnson registered a 72 in the first round and a 74 in the afternoon.
On Monday morning, play was delayed for an hour due to frost. When the teams concluded play in the early evening, the temperature was listed at 55 degrees.
Two Knights - senior Chris Anderson (Lake Mary, Fla./Seminole) and freshman Jhared Hack (Sanford, Fla./Circle Christian) - are among several players tied for 29th at 148 (+4). Anderson carded a 76 (+4) in the morning and then posted an even-par 72. His teammate had an even-par round to open the event and posted a 76 in the afternoon.
Sophomore Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) is tied for 49th at 151 (+7). He carded a three-over 75 in the morning and then posted a four-over 76.
Play at the three-round tournament will resume on Tuesday morning. The Knights are ranked 26th in the latest Golfstat NCAA head-to-head standings.
