Six Knights Named 2006-07 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athletes

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Six members of the UCF softball team were named 2006-07 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes the organization announced Friday. Kacie Feaster (Jacksonville, Fla.), Shelly Frick (Jacksonville, Fla.), Amber Lamb (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Megan Murphy (Port Orange, Fla.), Cat Snapp (Niceville, Fla.) and Ashley Van Ryn (Atlanta, Ga.) all received the honor for earning a 3.5 GPA or higher during the academic year.

In all, 36 C-USA softball players earned the distinction, with UCF's half-dozen individual selections ranking second in the league. East Carolina led the way with seven individuals on the list.

Last spring, Feaster earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team honors, while she and Van Ryn were also named to the inaugural C-USA Softball All-Academic Team. The pair was joined by Snapp in receiving the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Six additional Knights were named to the league's Honor Roll, earning a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Members included, Cici Alvarez (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Ashleigh Cole (Pace, Fla.), Frick, Lexi Gresham (Fresno, Calif.), Lamb and Murphy.
