Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) hit .400 with 11 kills, despite the UCF volleyball team falling to Conference USA foe UAB, 3-0 (19-30, 26-30, 15-30), at the new UCF Arena Friday night.

The Knights fell to 9-17 on the season and 0-11 in the league with the loss, while UAB still hold on to fourth place in C-USA standings with an 8-3 record in conference and an 18-7 overall clip.

Sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) had eight kills for UCF, while Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) added six kills and two block assists. Freshman Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) registered 28 assists and also had two block assists.

Defensively, senior libero Cassie Ramaekers (Blue Grass, Iowa) led the Black and Gold with nine digs and sophomore Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) had eight.

UAB's Fernanda Domingos hit .800 in the contest with a match-high 12 kills. Fellow teammate Casey Dent also had 12 kills on the night and hit .429.

The Knights are back in action Sunday when they host Memphis in their annual "Dig for the Cure" match. Fans will be able to pledge money for every dig UCF records in the contest. All donations will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the new UCF Arena.
