UCF Volleyball Welcomes UAB for a C-USA Rematch

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team returns to the new UCF Arena Friday after playing its last two matches on the road. The Knights are looking to avenge an early-October loss to UAB, in which the Blazers defeated the Black and Gold, 3-0 (16-30, 29-31, 18-30), at the Bartow Arena. The first serve of the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) led the Knights in the first contest against the Blazers with a team-high seven kills, while sophomore Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) put together a solid outing for UCF with 16 assists, six digs, four kills, three service aces. Fellow sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Knights with 11 digs and junior Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) paced the Black and Gold defense with three blocks assists.

Heppert and freshman Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) both rank in the top-10 in the league, with Heppert sitting at third with a 1.17 blocks per game average. Brueggemeyer ranks 10th on the list, averaging 9.76 assist per game.

UAB's Ivana Bozic added her 11th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs in the match. The series between the Knights and the Blazers is tied, 5-5.

The Knights enter this weekend looking for their first league victory, with a 0-10 conference record and a 9-16 overall clip. The Blazers travel to Orlando in a tie with Memphis for fourth place in the C-USA standings with a 7-3 league mark and an overall record of 17-7.

Friday also marks the start of the Halloween season at the new UCF Arena with Knightro's Trick-or-Treat Party. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes to get an autograph from UCF's mascot Knightro prior to the UCF volleyball match. They will also be given candy, spirit beads, posters, and more fun gifts. The event is free and begins at 6 p.m.
