Men's Tennis to Host Annual Fall Invitational

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Starting on Friday, the UCF men's tennis team hosts the UCF Fall Invitational at the UCF Tennis Complex. The tournament will last for three days and includes Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Atlantic and North Florida.

The tournament will use the flight format. In singles, there will be seven flights, consisting of a best-of-three match set. Doubles will feature three flights with one eight-game pro-set match.

In singles, the Black and Gold send sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden), freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) and junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) to the top three flights.

For doubles, Sakey and freshman Gabriel Mattos (Ocoee, Fla./West Orange) will play together in doubles. Beigart and freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) team together for flight B. Junior Jimmy Roesch (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) and freshman Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla./Washington) are together in flight C.

The Knights have been off since Oct. 8 when the team played at the IMG Treibly in Bradenton.

Roesch strung together four wins in his first four matches in singles play. The Melbourne native defeated Florida's Erik Corace 10-7 and Georgetown's Paul Doucas 10-0.

Romano won two matches in singles. The Venezuela native defeated Georgetown's Will Lowell and Wisconsin's Luke Rassow Kantor.

This will be the third tournament the Knights and Florida Gulf Coast face each other.

Admission to all matches is free.
