Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Members of the UCF cheerleading squad were recently spotted inside the pages of Inside Cheerleading's September/October 2007 issue. Seniors Crystal Hendrix (Ocala, Fla.) and Ashley Cowan (Jacksonville, Fla.), and sophomores Ashley Boudrea (Largo, Fla.) and Lauren Whitt (Orlando, Fla.) are all pictured performing stunts and cheers in the publication.
Boudrea, Cowan and Whitt appear together in a two-page photo feature entitled "The "X" Factor," in which the Knights are pictured flying sky-high performing a perfect triple x-out.
Only a few pages later, Hendrix can be seen cheering on the UCF football team versus Texas in the opening of Bright House Networks Stadium. Not only that, but Hendrix is also being filmed in the photo for the upcoming season of Cheerleader U, which is the focus of the complimenting article.
Cheerleader U began filming the 2007 UCA National Champions in May and continues to make week-long trips to Orlando once a month, focusing their trips around major events throughout the year, leading up to the 2008 UCA National Championship. The production crew will make their next trip to campus for Homecoming week and the Knights' annual Spirit Splash event.
Also look for Inside Cheerleading's exclusive look at the newest installment of the Bring It On franchise: Bring It on: In It to Win It in its November/December 2007 issue. Six members of the UCF cheerleading squad - Whitt, Dinah Schierer (Stuart, Fla.), Cory Brown (Tampa, Fla.), Brian White (Springfield, Mo.), Jake Waldrup (Yazoo City, Miss.) and Tim Johnson (Bradenton, Fla.) - all signed up to play various roles in the film, which was shot at Universal Orlando during April and May. The movie is set to be released on DVD in December.
