Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational - Day One Quotes

Oct. 21, 2007

Recap | Notes

Rhys Enoch (East Tennessee State)
"I am very pleased (with my play). It is an amazing course out here and I was happy to play well. I like a long course. I hit it pretty long, so it is nice to have a course like this. It is a lovely layout."

Greg Forest (UCF)
"I hit the ball well. I just went out there and trusted it and it went alright. It is our home tournament, so I know the course a little bit. This is probably the best college golf tournament there is. We are doing more than just hosting it. We want to go out there and play well."

Lance Lopez (Texas)
"Par around here was not a bad score (today). You basically have to keep it in the fairway. There are plenty of greens."

Harris English (Georgia)
"This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. I really didn't make too many putts and I did not make many mistakes. I am happy with that. You just have to hit it well here and get close to the hole."

Brendan Gielow (Wake Forest)
"I got off to sort of a bad start. I doubled No. 3, but played pretty well after that. It was pretty long today. Because it is a little wet, you can get up and down the greens. Last year, it was a lot harder to get up and down. I think it is evening out."

UCF Head Coach Nick Clinard
"We needed to get off to a strong start and I thought we were able to do that today. We definitely left a few shots out there coming in, but we'll work to fix that tomorrow. All in all, I'm pleased with our round and now we have some confidence and momentum going into the final two rounds."

Wake Forest Head Coach Jerry Haas
"We ended up shooting three-under. Three-over is probably in 12th or 13th place and three-under is in about fourth. That tells you about the quality of play and how bunched the scores are. It (the course) is playing a little softer this year, so you can score the ball around the greens. We started out badly, about four or five over and ended up shooting three-under, so we made a good comeback."
