Oct. 19, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team continues its fall schedule this weekend with a difficult challenge in Athens, Ga. The Knights will travel to the ITA Southern Regionals hosted by the University of Georgia, and get the event underway with the first two rounds of singles Saturday.

UCF's journey to the ITA Regionals mark the second of three fall tournaments for the Black and Gold. In their first event, the Knights swept the doubles draws at the Rollins C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational Sept. 21-23. Anna Yakimchenkova and Elvira Serrot claimed the Flight A title, while Jennifer Carati and Jenny Frisell earned the Flight B title. In singles play, Yakimchenkova advanced to the finals of the A bracket and Frisell reached the championship match of the B bracket. However, both matches were rained out.

Official draws for the ITA Southern Regionals will be released on Georgia's website, www.georgiadogs.com, during the day Friday. The tournament is scheduled to come to a close Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The winners of the singles and doubles flights, along with the singles finalist, advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships in November at Ohio State University.
