UCF Volleyball Hits the Road for a Pair of C-USA Contests

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team is back on the road this weekend following a week-long home swing when they travel to Tulane Friday to face the Green Wave before heading to UTEP Sunday for a contest against the Miners. Friday's match is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, while Sunday's match is slated for 2 p.m. ET.

Offensively, the Knights (9-14, 0-8 Conference USA) are led by Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.), Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas), Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) and Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas).

Campbell has a team-high 238 kills, while Serna holds the top spot for the Black and Gold with 3.03 kills per game. Heppert holds a .233 hitting percentage and has notched 33 service aces and Brueggemeyer has a team-leading 633 assists and a 9.74 assists per game average.

Heppert has also shined defensively this season, totaling 101 blocks and averaging 1.22 blocks per game, a mark that ranks second in the league. Freshman Kristen Petrasic (Carrollton, Texas) has registered 242 digs for the Knights in 2007 to lead her team.

When UCF travels to New Orleans, La., for its match-up with Tulane they will face a team that currently ranks second in the league with a 7-2 C-USA record and an overall record of 18-5. The Green Wave is paced by the offensive play of Sara Radosevic, who is averaging 4.48 kills per game and has totaled 363 kills on the season. Radosevic also leads the league with 52 service aces. Tulane has out-killed its opponents 1,407 kills to 1,203 kills this season. The Knights and the Green Way will face-off for the 11th time since 1977, with UCF holding a 7-3 advantage.

For Sunday's meeting with UTEP, the Black and Gold will be welcomed by another team that is looking for its first C-USA victory. The Miners are 0-9 in league matches and 6-14 overall in 2007. UTEP has seven players that rank in the top 10 in the league, including Amy Sanders who is sixth in the C-USA with 35 service aces and ninth with 3.76 kills per game. The Knights have yet to win a match against the Miners, with UTEP leading the all-time series against UCF, 3-0.
