ORLANDO, Fla. The first edition of the NCAA Women's Soccer Ratings Percentage Index came out last week, and UCF found itself in 27th place. The Knights' position was the highest of all Division I schools in the state of Florida, and second only to Memphis in Conference USA.
The RPI was based on UCF's record before the Black and Gold's two victories last weekend. With a 9-2-2 overall record and a 4-0-0 mark in C-USA, the Knights sit all alone in first place in the league. The only two losses they have suffered were 1-0 defeats at the hands of Penn State (ranked No. 1 in the RPI) and Mississippi (ranked No. 26 in the RPI).
UCF has notched four-straight shutouts, and is currently on a five-game winning streak. The Knights are also 5-0-2 in their last seven matches. They defeated Tulsa, 4-0, and SMU, 5-0, to remain in first in C-USA, and are returning home this weekend to face UTEP Friday at 7 p.m. and Colorado College Sunday at noon. The match with the Miners could determine a lot in the C-USA race, as UTEP is 3-0-0 in league play.
