ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team will head to the west coast this weekend to participate in the Prestige at PGA WEST Intercollegiate in Palm Springs, Calif. The two-day, 36-hole event begins on Monday.
The Knights are one of 16 squads competing at the event, which is hosted by UC Davis and defending national champion Stanford. The Cardinal are currently ranked first nationally in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf poll. Ninth-ranked Charlotte will also compete at the tournament. Five teams that are currently receiving votes in the poll, including the Knights, are also in the field.
The tournament will serve as UCF's third event of the fall season. Senior Chris Anderson (Lake Mary, Fla./Seminole), juniors Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne), sophomore Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and freshman Jhared Hack (Sanford, Fla./Circle Christian) will be in action for the Knights.
This year's tournament will serve as the eighth installment of the event. Head coach Nick Clinard's UCF squad will be in action for the first time since Oct. 1, when they concluded the Olympia Fields Illini Invitational in Illinois.
The tournament in California will serve as the Knights' only trip to the west coast this year.
After competing at the tournament, UCF will return home to host the UCF-Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in nearby Windermere.
