UCF Concludes Olympia Fields Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF junior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne) carded a 73 (+3) on Monday to finish in a tie for seventh at the Olympia Fields Illini Invitational. The Knights finished seventh at the 12-team event that featured some of the nation's top squads.

Johnson finished the tournament at 217 (+7). He posted a pair of 72 (+2) rounds on Sunday. UCF recorded a team score of 880 (+40) at the two-day event.

"David played well and will continue to get better during the year," said UCF head coach Nick Clinard. "As a team we must do a better job handling adversity, but I think we have the players that can do that over time."

Seventh-ranked Oklahoma State claimed the team title at 857 (+17), followed by No. 23 Texas (864, +24). Defending national champion and top-ranked Stanford finished in fifth at 876 (+36). Oklahoma State's Rickie Fowler took medalist honors at 203 (-7).

UCF senior Chris Anderson (Lake Mary, Fla./Seminole) and freshman Jhared Hack (Sanford, Fla./Circle Christian) tied for 21st at 221 (+11). In his first event of the fall, sophomore Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) tied for 36th (224, +14). Junior Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Nease) concluded the tournament at 237 (+27).

The Knights will return to action on Oct. 15, competing at the Prestige at PGA West in Palm Springs, Calif.
