Oct. 3, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Former UCF women's basketball standout Francine Houston recently signed a professional contract to play for Edremit Basketball Club. The team competes in Turkey's First Division, the same league that has featured WNBA players like Cappie Poindexter and Tamara James.

During 2006-07, her final season with the Knights, Houston led the team in scoring for the second consecutive year as she average 14 points per game.

Although she played only three seasons for UCF, she left as the most prolific three-point shooters in the history of the program. She holds the school record for most three-pointers made in a game (8), in a season (82) and in a career (213). Houston also tied the Conference USA record for most three-pointers made in a league contest when she dropped in eight against both Tulsa and Memphis in February 2007.

Houston also ranks seventh all-time at UCF in career scoring with 1,064 points, making her a member of the Knights' 1,000-point Club.

UCF opens its 2007-08 season in the new 10,000-seat UCF Arena on Nov. 9 against Texas Tech. Season tickets are available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000 or by surfing to www.ucfathletics.com.
