ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Three Knights finished with double-digits in kills as the UCF volleyball team opened the UCF Invitational with a 3-1(30-26, 30-12, 18-30, 30-26) win over North Florida on Thursday afternoon at the old UCF Arena. UCF was playing at home for the first time this year and improved to 3-5 with the win.
Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) paced the hosts with 12 kills. Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) and Kelly Weaver (Port Orange, Fla.) both recorded 10 kills. Blaire Brueggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) had match-high 24 assists. Teammate Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) added 20 assists.
The Ospreys fell to 0-7 with the loss. Kavie Sturch paced the team with 11 kills.
The Knights recorded 13 total team blocks.
UCF will return to action this evening at 7 p.m. versus Florida Atlantic. Admission to all matches at the three-day tournament is free.
