Manis, Orr, George Earn Spots on Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament Team

Sept. 4, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - At the conclusion of the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic Sept. 2, the UCF women's soccer team learned that three Knights were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Seniors Jennifer Manis (Pensacola, Fla./Washington HS) and Arielle Orr (Palm Harbor, Fla./Palm Harbor U. HS) and sophomore Yvonne George (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) were all honored for their performances as the Black and Gold went 1-1-0 over the weekend.

Manis dominated Minnesota in the season-opener Aug. 31, making 12 saves in a 2-1 win over the Golden Gophers. Her 12 stops tied her for 11th in team history for most saves in a match, while the only goal she gave up was with five seconds left. The UCF keeper followed that up with two more saves against No. 7 Penn State Sept. 2 as the Knights almost pulled off the upset in a 1-0 loss. Manis finished the weekend with a .875 save percentage.

Orr played a huge role from the back position in keeping Minnesota off the board, and followed that up with stellar play against one of the top teams in the country. Taking on the No. 7 Nittany Lions, Orr was part of a defense that allowed only three PSU shots on net and only three corner kicks. George, meanwhile, set up the game-winner by sophomore Courtney Whidden vs. Minnesota and finished the weekend with five total shots, three of which were on goal.
