Knights Named a NFCA All-Academic Team

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday that the UCF softball team was named one of its 118 All-Academic Teams, based on cumulative grade-point averages submitted by the NFCA member head coaches for the 2006-07 academic year.

As a team, the Knights recorded a 3.098 GPA last spring.

Several Knights earned academic honors throughout the season. Senior Kacie Feaster's 3.84 cumulative GPA earned her a spot on the ESPN The Magazine/CoSida Academic All-District III First Team, the Conference USA All-Academic Team and she received the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for her hard work in the classroom.

Ashley Van Ryn joined Feaster on the C-USA All-Academic Team and Cat Snapp joined the duo in receiving the Commissioner's Academic Medal, needing a 3.75 or better to garner the honor.

Six additional Knights were named to the league's Honor Roll, earning a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Members included, Cici Alvarez, Ashleigh Cole, Shelly Frick, Lexi Gresham, Amber Lamb and Megan Murphy.
