Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team opens Conference USA action at home Friday Sept. 21, against visiting Houston at 7 p.m. The Knights will be playing their match at Hagerty High School in nearby Oviedo, due to both the new and old UCF Arenas already being in use over the weekend.
The Knights (8-6, 0-0 C-USA) are coming off a two-match winning streak following a second place finish at the USF Best Western Invitational last weekend, where senior Cassie Ramaekers (Blue Grass, Iowa) and junior Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) both earned spots on the All-Tournament Team. Ramaekers totaled 39 digs over the course of the weekend, averaging 3.55 per game. Campbell led the Knights with 34 kills and 40 digs at the event.
UCF is undefeated at home in 2007, recording four-straight wins at the UCF Invitational Sept. 6-8. The Black and Gold defeated UNF, Florida Atlantic, Central Michigan and Montana State to claim the tournament crown.
Houston (6-6, 1-0 C-USA) comes to Orlando with three-straight wins after hosting the Houston Tournament Sept. 13-15, registering wins over C-USA foe Rice, Stephen F Austin and Wake Forest. The Cougars are led by junior Justine Farmer who has 242 kills on the year, averaging 5.15 per game, a mark that tops the league. The Knights are 0-3 against the Cougars, dropping a 3-0 match to Houston in their last meeting in 2006.
