Men's Tennis to Open Fall Slate Close to Home

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team will not have to travel far to compete in its first fall tournament of the year on Friday. Head coach Bobby Cashman's squad will participate in the three-day C.L. Varner Memorial Tennis Invitational in nearby Winter Park.

Eight Knights will be in action at tournament. Sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) and junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) are both seeded in the top singles draw. Beigart is the second seed and his teammate has earned the third seed.

Senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) and freshman Bob VanDeLaar (Apeldorn, Holland) will also compete in the top singles field.

In addition to the Knights, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Southern, Florida State, Florida Tech, Palm Beach Atlantic and host Rollins will be in action at the tournament. The event will be played at three venues in Winter Park.

Cashman's team will play in six events this fall.
