Tampa, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Despite a match-high 14 kills from junior Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas), the UCF volleyball team dropped its first match of the USF Best Western Invitational to the host USF, 3-0 (21-30, 25-30, 26-30) at The Corral Thursday night. With the loss, UCF (6-6) snapped a four-match winning streak, while the Bulls moved their record to 6-1 on the season.

Sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) added nine kills, 11 digs and 4 service aces for the Knights, while freshman libero Kristen Petrasic (Carroll, Texas) recorded a team-high 13 digs. Setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) led UCF with 19 assists and also had four kills and three block assists.

The Black and Gold totaled nine service aces in the match compared to only five aces for the Bulls. On the season, the Knights have accumulated 107 service aces, while their competition has combined for only 70.

USF was led by Marcela Gurgel's 11 kills and four service aces and Kristina Fabris added six kills and 14 digs for the Bulls in the match.

UCF continues play at the USF Best Western Invitational Friday against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at noon, before concluding the event with a match against George Mason at 5 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live online as well as having live stats available.
