Boulder, Colo. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team concluded play at its second tournament of the season Saturday, dropping a 3-0 (26-30, 22-30, 23-30) match to host Colorado at the Colorado Invitational. Redshirt freshman Lauren Williams (Lake Mary, Fla./Seminole) turned out a solid performance for the Knights as she hit .429 with eight kills and six blocks.

UCF combined for 18 block assists in the contest compared to only eight for the Buffs. Williams' six led the Black and Gold, with both Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas/Birmingham-Southern) and Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) adding four block assists apiece.

Sophomore Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City) led the Knights (2-5, 0-0 Conference USA) with 10 kills, while freshman Brittany Turnbull (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) recorded a season and career-high 13 digs. Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence Free State) added two service aces and hit .417 despite the loss.

Colorado's Alex Buth registered the match's only double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, and Lauren Schaefer hit .480 with a match-high 14 kills to move the Buffs' record to 2-2.

The Knights will play at home for the first time this season when they host the UCF Invitational Sept. 6-8 at the old UCF Arena. UCF's first match of the tournament is slated for 1 p.m. against North Florida, followed by a 7 p.m. contest versus Florida Atlantic. The Black and Gold will also face-off against Central Michigan and Montana State over the weekend.
