ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - UCF men's tennis head coach Bobby Cashman is giving back to the community this summer. Cashman is teaming up with the Golden Rule Foundation in an effort to support Mayor Buddy Dyer's Parramore Kidz Zone Project by offering a tennis clinic in downtown Orlando.
Cashman's clinic will offer Parramore-area children a new perspective on tennis and the fundamentals of the sport. Under the guidance of Cashman, the event will feature a series of clinics put on by the UCF men's tennis team, the Golden Rule Foundation and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
The first clinic will take place on Aug. 16.
The participants from the program will also visit the UCF campus, playing against coaches and volunteer players under the mentoring of Cashman. The students will get an up-close look of UCF, while learning the game of tennis.
Once the clinics are completed, the students will compete in the third annual "Bringing Character to Center Court." UCF women's tennis head coach Stephanie Nickitas also will assist with the event at the UCF Tennis Complex on Sept. 15.
The Golden Rule Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization creating positive change throughout the state by teaching children, during the formative first decade of their lives, the importance of doing for others.
Cashman is entering his ninth year with the Knights and has guided UCF to a 114-67 record during his tenure.
