Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF football team worked in full pads for just over two hours Monday morning as the Knights continued gearing towards their season-opening contest with NC State on Sept. 1.
Installation was a big part of the morning practice, as both the offense and defense polished both their rushing and passing schemes before getting some extra work in on punt returns and kickoff coverage.
"Anytime we come out in the morning in full pads, we are going to try to get after it," O'Leary said. "We are still installing and stuff, but I thought the defense had a good (practice) and the offense, there were way too many mistakes, especially with the quarterback position. You can't have that because that triggers your offense."
With a majority of the time spent on installation, the team period towards the end of practice was limited. Sophomore cornerback Emery Allen highlighted that period with an interception return for a touchdown.
The Knights' next three practices will all be in the afternoon as workouts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all slated for a 3:20 p.m. start time.
