Women's Soccer Match at SMU to be Televised by CSTV

Aug. 9, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - CSTV released its Conference USA women's soccer schedule Thursday, and UCF will once again be part of the action. The Knights' trip to SMU Oct. 14 will be on tape delay, and fans can check it out when it airs Oct. 16 at 8 p.m.

UCF and SMU are pretty familiar with playing on national television. The two programs met on the soccer field last season when the Black and Gold upset the No. 15 Mustangs in Orlando, 2-1 in double overtime. That match also was covered by CSTV.

SMU eventually went on to claim the C-USA regular-season title, and UCF finished in second place with a 7-1-1 conference record. Both schools are hoping for a return to the C-USA Championship in 2008, which is being hosted by UTEP. The championship final will be televised live by CSTV Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.

UCF's 2008 campaign gets underway with home exhibition matches vs. Northern Illinois (Aug. 23) and USF (Aug. 25). The regular season kicks-off with the Tennessee Lady Vol Classic, where the Knights face Minnesota Aug. 31 and Penn State, which was ranked in the top 10 last year, Sept. 2. The Knights then return to Orlando for the UCF Invitational, and will battle UNLV Sept. 7 and UC Davis Sept. 9.

This season marks the third year of C-USA's partnership with CSTV. CSTV is widely available through cable and satellite operators that serve more than 65 million households nationwide, including Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, Cox and both Dish Network (Channel 152) and DirecTV (Channel 610).
