ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF held its annual football media day on campus on Friday afternoon at the Nicholson Fieldhouse with a record turnout of more than 40 statewide media members in attendance. The Knights met with the media for approximately an hour during the event that included an opening press conference with head coach George O'Leary, a team photo inside Bright House Networks Stadium and one-on-one interviews with players and the coaching staff.

O'Leary opened up the event with a 30-minute interview session inside the Wayne Densch Sports Center where the fourth-year coach touched on topics regarding his team's improved depth on both sides of the ball, an impressive start by the 2007 signing class and playing on campus for the first time in the 29-year history of the program.

"I think the players had a good offseason and I think we have a chance to be a very solid football team at all positions," O'Leary said during his opening statement. He went on to add, "We are at that stage where I expect to win and be a program that wins consistently. That is a sign of a program that is growing in the right direction."

In addition to several local news outlets from both print and electronic mediums, representatives from Sun Sports, the Naples Daily News, Palm Beach Post, Miami Herald, Lakeland Ledger, and the Daytona Beach News Journal also made the journey to Orlando to catch up with the Black and Gold.

UCF opened fall practice on Thursday, and completed its second practice of the year Friday morning. The Knights get right back to the playing field to resume fall camp Saturday at 3:20 p.m.

The Knights open the 2007 campaign on Sept. 1 at NC State. The team will make its debut in Bright House Networks Stadium on campus versus Texas on Sept. 15.

Season tickets for the first campaign at the on-campus stadium are still available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000. Single-game tickets to the final five home contests are also now on sale.
