Tribble Serving on NCAA D-I Management Council

June 27, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF director of athletics and executive vice president Keith R. Tribble is representing the Knights on the national level as he is currently in his first year as a member of the NCAA Division I Management Council. The influential group implements NCAA policies, interprets bylaws that govern Division I institutions and makes legislative recommendations to the NCAA Executive Committee and Presidents Council.

Tribble began his four-year term on the council in April. The 49-member group is comprised of athletics directors, senior woman administrators, assistant athletics directors, conference commissioners and faculty athletics representatives. Tribble is the lone representative from a Conference USA school on the council. C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky and associate commissioner Judy MacLeod are both members of the council.

After 13 years as the chief executive officer of the Orange Bowl Committee, Tribble arrived at UCF in June 2006. He is no stranger to national committees. In addition to guiding the Bowl Championship Series in its negotiations with television partners, he also served on the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Executive Committee in 2002-03 while at the Orange Bowl.

Before his tenure at the Orange Bowl, Tribble worked for two years as the senior associate athletics director at UNLV. Prior to his stint at UNLV, he was the executive director of Sunshine Football, Inc. from 1990-92, overseeing the creation and development of the Blockbuster Bowl. From 1981-89, he was an athletics administrator at Florida, his alma mater.

During his time at UCF, Tribble has managed the construction of several athletics facilities, including Bright House Networks Stadium and the Convocation Center. This spring, he oversaw the Knights' new brand-marketing initiative and also hired four new head coaches.

The management council meets five times per year. The group's next meeting is slated for October in Indianapolis, Ind.
