UCF Baseball's Russell Named Winter Park's Player of the Week

June 25, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Another eventful performance in the Florida Collegiate Summer League has helped UCF baseball player Tim Russell (Sr., Maitland, Fla.) secure the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs Player of the Week honors, announced by the team Monday. It was Russell's second weekly accolade of the year.

Russell, who primarily served as a designated hitter and pinch-hitter for the Knights last season, went 7-for-20 over a six-game stretch, accumulating seven RBI and two runs scored. He blasted a two-run homer vs. the Leesburg Lightning June 18, and now has a .308 average with 12 RBI this summer. Russell previously was named FCSL D-Bat Player of the Week during the first week of the season, where he was 5-for-10 in two games.
