Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF softball player Cici Alvarez was named a 2007 NCAA Division I Softball Statistical Champion the NCAA announced Tuesday, becoming the first Knight in program history to receive the honor. The third baseman led the nation with 32 sacrifice hits on the year (.50 per game), while helping her team to a third-place finish at the Conference USA Championship.
Alvarez's 32 sacs in 2007 set a new UCF single-season record and propelled the Pembroke Pines, Fla., native to the top of the career charts with 98 sacrifice hits in her four-year tenure as a Knight.
