Orlando, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - On Friday, June 15, UCF Athletics Communications went on a "walkabout" throughout the burgeoning north quadrant of campus - also known as the UCF Athletics Village.
The tour was captured in 179 photos that show the current state of progress around the Memory Mall and Alumni Green, two key tailgating spaces on Knights Football Game Day; the developing streets and commerce that surround the new UCF Convocation Center; Victory Drive and the Plaza section outside of Bright House Networks Stadium...and much much more.
"From the last time I shot photos a few weeks back, I noticed the great progress with the new streets that surround and go throughout the north quadrant," said Joe Hornstein, Assistant Athletics Director. "They are still closed off from general public. The main scoreboard is going up nicely, as well. One of the panels that say the `down and distance' is already up.
"I had escort access late in the day into Bright House Networks Stadium, where we immediately went to see the home locker room. One word - huge," added Hornstein. "The offense and defense units will each have their own respective space, common at most major stadiums. The framing for the ceiling panels and lights just went in. I did some shots coming out of the locker room and towards the field. The concrete slabs were also being poured in the concourses. The west side and most of the east are already poured. Irrigation systems were also being installed all around the stadium, for the sod and foliage surroundings seen in the stadium artist renderings."
