Two Knights Named to Conference USA Softball All-Academic Team

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Kacie Feaster and Ashley Van Ryn were named to the 2007 Conference USA All-Academic Team, league officials announced on Tuesday. To be eligible for the 14-person team, student-athletes must have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and be a starter or key reserve on their team.

Senior Kacie Feaster graduated Cum Laude last weekend with a degree in Sports and Fitness, holding a 3.84 GPA. Earlier in the season, Feaster was named to the 2007 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll as well as receiving the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for holding a 3.75 GPA or better. Feaster has played in all of the Knights 59 games this season in centerfield and leads UCF in 11 offensive categories. The Jacksonville, Fla., native ranks third in the league with 19 stolen bases and fourth with 66 hits and three triples on the year.

Junior Ashley Van Ryn, carries a 3.91 GPA in hospitality management and is a recipient of the UCF President's Honor Roll Certificate (4.0). Van Ryn was also named to the 2007 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. The right fielder received the C-USA's Commissioner's Academic Medal this spring. Van Ryn has started 54 games in right field for UCF in 2007 while hitting .263 in league games.
