Conference USA Rewards Four Knights With Postseason Awards

May 9, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF had four student-athletes receive postseason awards at the Conference USA banquet held at the Radisson University Hotel on the eve of the C-USA Softball Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Allison Kime, Kacie Feaster and Breanne Javier received All C-USA First Team honors, while Hillary Barrow was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.

The All C-USA First Team is made up of 11 student-athletes that have shown exemplary play on the softball field all season long, with only one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, two pitchers and one utility player making the squad.

The announcement marked the third time in UCF history that three Knights received First Team honors; in 2003 and 2004 the Black and Gold had three All Atlantic Sun Conference selections.

The All C-USA First Team is made up of 11 student-athletes that have shown exemplary play on the softball field all season long, with only one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, two pitchers and one utility player making the squad.

Pitcher Allison Kime was one of two C-USA pitchers to receive first team honors. She currently ranks fifth in the nation and first in C-USA with a 0.93 ERA and leads the league in opposing batting average, holding the competition to a mere .158. Her conference-leading ERA has helped her pitching staff to sixth in the nation with a combined 1.37 mark. Kime earned C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors three times over the course of this season, en route to breaking the UCF career strikeout after recording 478 strikeouts in only two years at UCF. Kime also broke numerous UCF single-season and single-game marks on the year. The award is the first in Kime's career.

Centerfielder Kacie Feaster received first team recognition after leading the Knights in virtually every offensive category. The senior ranked third in C-USA with 66 hits and fourth with 19 stolen bases and three triples, while posting a team-leading .346 batting average. Feaster's seven home runs and 29 RBI are also top marks for her squad, while her three triples have helped the Knights to a top 100 ranking in the nation in triples per game. The Jacksonville, Fla., native is fourth all-time at UCF with 97 runs scored, including 34 just this year. The award is the first in Feaster's career.

Breanne Javier used a .366 batting average and 26 hits in C-USA match-ups to take one of four All C-USA First Team infield spots. The first baseman leads C-USA in chances, putouts and fielding double plays, while her 16 double plays helped her team to a top 100 position in the nation in double plays turned. Javier was named C-USA Hitter of the Week on April 30th for her outstanding outing at the plate against UTEP. The award is the first in Javier's career.

Hillary Barrow received a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman team after hitting a .283 on the season with 41 hits and 15 RBI. The second baseman ranks in the top 10 in the league in triples and sacrifice flies while ranking fourth on her team with seven doubles and a .379 on base percentage. Barrow was named C-USA Hitter of the Week on April 2nd after posting three doubles and scoring the game-winning run against Florida State. The award is the first in Barrow's career.

The Knights take to the field next on Thursday for the 2007 C-USA Softball Championship presented by Coca-Cola where they will face off with the Thundering Herd of Marshall at 12:30 p.m. The double-elimination tournament is taking place at the UCF Softball Complex, where fans are able to take in up to four games a day.
