GREENVILLE, N.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior Jaager Good (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood) threw seven innings of shutout ball and the UCF baseball team scored the game's lone run in the sixth as the Knights topped Houston, 1-0, in an elimination game at the Conference USA Championship at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Thursday morning. The Knights (27-31) are seeded eighth at the event and will face the loser of the No. 1 Rice/No. 5 Memphis game on Friday at 3 p.m.

The Knights grabbed the lead in the sixth when senior Matt Horwath (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) scored on a ground out by sophomore Kiko Vazquez (Sebring, Fla./Sebring). Good was impressive, allowing just four hits and three walks while striking out nine Cougars (28-28).

"We got a great performance from Jaager. He gave us a great effort out there," said UCF head coach Jay Bergman. "The guys knew they had to win and they responded well."

No. 4 Houston threatened in the ninth when Bryan Tully doubled to start the inning off of senior Brian Brooks (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo). Brooks was replaced by sophomore Justin Weiss (Miami, Fla./Killian), who retired the final three batters for his ninth save of the year.

The contest served as the first 1-0 game in C-USA Championship history.

Good got out of a jam in the fifth. With the bases loaded with two outs, the Cougars' Felix Fanaselle popped up in foul territory to end the inning.

UCF junior Tyson Auer (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) and sophomore Eric Kallstrom (South West Ranches, Fla./Cypress Bay) both totaled a pair of hits.
