ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - UCF interim head women's track and field coach Jennifer Vander Logt announced on Thursday that Miami's Christina Raphael signed a national letter of intent (NLI). Raphael will begin training with the Knights in the fall of 2007.
A product of Miami Northwestern High School, Raphael owns personal bests of 134-feet, four inches in the discus and 44-1 in the shot put. During the past season, she took home first place in the discus at the Bob Hayes Invitational and was second in the shot put at the Florida Relays. She also captured fourth in the shot put at the 2007 state championships, while was claimed third place a year ago.
"We're excited to have Christina join the team in the fall," said Vander Logt, who coaches the throwers. "She will add further depth to a throwing line-up that already has a strong record of success."
The Knights recently earned fifth place at the 2007 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
