GREENVILLE, N.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Conference USA announced its baseball all-league teams on Tuesday and UCF was well represented. Sophomore first baseman Kiko Vazquez (Sebring, Fla./Sebring) earned a spot on the All-Conference USA First Team, junior outfielder Tyson Auer (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) was named to the second team and third baseman Chris Duffy (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek) garnered all-freshman team recognition.
Vazquez has started 55 of the Knights' 56 contests in 2007 and paces C-USA in runs batted in (54), slugging percentage (.593) and on-base percentage (.471). He ranks third in batting average, hitting .366. Vazquez has 71 hits on the year, including 15 doubles and nine home runs.
On Tuesday, Vazquez was one of 11 players selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and be a starter or key reserve on their squad.
Auer is also among the league leaders in several offensive categories. He has 24 stolen bases, good for second in the conference. Auer is third in hits with 78 and is batting .351, which ranks seventh in C-USA.
Duffy is the third Knight in two years to earn a spot on the All-C-USA Freshman Team. As a rookie, Duffy has made 47 starts at the hot corner and is hitting .295 with 51 hits and 30 RBI.
The Knights, who are in their second campaign in C-USA, will make their debut at the conference championship on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Greenville, N.C. UCF is seeded eighth and will meet No. 1 Rice.
