Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Allison Kime tossed a one-hit shutout and drove in the game's only run with a RBI single in the fourth inning to lead fourth-seeded UCF past third-seeded Tulsa, 1-0, Friday morning to stay alive in the Conference USA Softball Championship presented by Coca-Cola at the UCF Softball Complex. With the victory the Knights move to 37-25 overall and will play East Carolina in game seven at 4 p.m.
Cici Alvarez started the fourth inning of the contest with a laser down the left-field line and moved into scoring position on a groundout by Amber Lamb. Hillary Barrow received a free base from Tulsa starter, Julie Fennell to put runners at first and second with two outs. UCF hurler, Allison Kime helped her own cause by cranking a single up the middle allowing Alvarez to slide safely into home plate for the Knights' first run and the eventual game-winner.
Kime pitched her fifth one-hitter and fifteenth shutout of the season while striking out four and walking only two.
Alvarez accounted for two of UCF's three hits and scored the game-winning run in the fourth inning. Kime recorded the third Black and Gold hit, an RBI single to score the game's only run.
